Why install solar panels on your home?
Solar panels turn sunlight into electricity you use in your home during the day. Any power you don’t use is exported to the grid for a feed-in credit, or stored in a home battery for the evening.
For most Victorian households, an effectively sized solar power system lowers the daytime part of the power bill, protects against future price rises and adds appeal when you sell. The key is getting the size, brand and installation right the first time – which is where our 15+ years of experience matters.
- Lower power billsUse your own solar power during the day instead of buying it from the grid.
- Ready for a batteryA hybrid inverter lets you add a battery later without replacing your system.
- Long-lasting equipmentTier-1 panels carry a 25-year warranty and are built for Australian conditions.
- Rebates cut the upfront costThe Solar Victoria rebate and STC discount come straight off your quote.
Which solar system size do you need?
Most Victorian homes suit a 6.6kW to 10kW solar system. The right size depends on your daily usage, when you use power, your roof space and whether you plan to add a battery or an EV.
| System | Approx. panels | Approx. output per day | Best for | Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6.6kW | 15 panels | ~24kWh | Couples and small homes, mostly daytime use | 6.6kW solar system |
| 10kW | 23 panels | ~36kWh | Most families, homes working from home | 10kW solar system |
| 13kW | 30 panels | ~47kWh | Large homes, pools, ducted heating or cooling | 13kW solar system |
| 20kW+ | 45+ panels | ~72kWh | 3-phase homes, EV charging, homes with a battery | 20kW solar system |

Solar panel rebates in Victoria
Two incentives can reduce the cost of solar panels in Victoria, and they can be combined. As a Solar Victoria authorised retailer, we apply both directly on your quote.
Solar Victoria solar panel (PV) rebate
Eligible households can also opt in to an interest-free loan matching the rebate amount. You may be eligible if:
- your combined household income is $150,000 or less a year (from 1 July 2026)
- the property hasn’t had solar installed in the last 10 years
- the address hasn’t already received a Solar Homes solar or battery rebate
Federal small-scale technology certificates
Under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, new solar systems create STCs. We take these as an upfront discount on your price. The discount is larger for bigger systems and reduces each year until the scheme ends in 2030, so it is worth more if you install sooner.
How STC solar rebates workImportant: your Solar Victoria eligibility must be approved before your system is installed. We upload your quote to the Solar Victoria portal and guide you through the application.
