- Prepares an itemised quote with every incentive applied
- Uploads your quote into the Solar Victoria portal if you’re eligible

How accurate is the calculator?
Close enough to plan with – your quote gives the exact figures.
STC prices move
Certificates trade on a market, so their value changes week to week.
Postcode zones
Solar STCs depend on your zone. Most of Victoria shares Melbourne’s zone, but not all.
Monthly rebate releases
Solar Victoria releases a limited number of rebates each month.
Actual system price
The Solar Victoria rebate is 50% of your real price after STCs, up to $1,400.
Battery model
The discount uses each battery’s usable capacity, which varies by model.
Your install date
Step-downs on 1 January 2027 and every six months after change the result.

Six mistakes that cost Victorians their rebate
Your estimate assumes you avoid these. Each one can mean losing a rebate entirely.
1. Installing before approval
If the system goes in before Solar Victoria confirms eligibility, there’s no rebate.
2. Using a non-authorised retailer
Only authorised solar retailers can lodge quotes in the Solar Victoria portal.
3. Choosing unlisted products
Panels and inverters must be on Solar Victoria’s product lists.
4. Paying a non-refundable deposit
If you’re then found ineligible, you may lose the deposit.
5. Missing the install window
Installation must be finished within 120 days of approval for an existing home.
6. Skipping network pre-approval
Your retailer must get distributor pre-approval to connect and explain any export limits.

Rebate calculator FAQs
How is my rebate calculated?
The calculator adds the solar STC discount for your system size, the Solar Victoria rebate (50% of the cost after STCs up to $1,400, if you’re likely eligible) and the federal battery discount based on usable capacity and the current STC factor.
Is the estimate accurate?
It’s an estimate based on published rules and an STC price of about $37. STC prices, your postcode zone, your actual system price and your install date change the final figures, which your quote confirms.
What does “cost of waiting” mean?
It’s how much less the solar STCs and battery discount would be worth if the same system were installed after 1 January 2027.
Can I calculate a battery on its own?
Yes. Choose “No solar” and set your battery capacity.
Does the calculator include bill savings?
No. It estimates rebates and discounts only. Your detailed report adds estimated bill savings based on your power use.
Is my estimate sent to you?
Only if you use the form. Your estimate is attached to your request so our specialist can confirm it.
