Will a battery work with my existing solar?
Usually, yes. What we need depends on your current inverter:
- Battery-ready hybrid inverterThe battery can often connect directly to your existing inverter, which keeps the cost down.
- Standard solar inverterWe add the battery with its own hybrid or battery inverter. Your existing panels keep working as they do now.
- Older or faulty systemWe may recommend replacing the inverter first so the whole system works effectively.
Installed by another company?
No problem. Our technicians assess systems from other installers, check compatibility and quote a battery that suits what you have. A site assessment fee may apply.

Battery safety and standards
Home batteries store a lot of energy, so where and how they’re installed matters. Every Eco Solar battery is installed to the Australian standard for battery systems, AS/NZS 5139, with the required clearances, protection and signage.
We’ll recommend the safest location for your battery – usually a garage wall or a protected outdoor wall – and explain why before installation.

How much does a solar battery cost?
Eco Solar home batteries start from $4,199 including GST, after the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, for a standard installation. The final price depends on battery size, brand and whether your existing inverter is compatible. See the price list.
What size battery do I need?
Size the battery to the power you use after the sun goes down. Many homes suit 10kWh to 14kWh for evening use, larger families suit 20kWh to 30kWh to cover most of the night, and homes with EVs or high usage may need 40kWh or more. We size it from your bill and usage data.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?
Yes. If your inverter is a battery-ready hybrid, a battery can often connect directly. If not, we add a battery with its own hybrid or battery inverter. Our technicians check your system before quoting, including systems installed by other companies. Adding a battery to existing solar.
Will my battery work during a blackout?
Only if the system is set up for backup. Many batteries can power selected circuits or the whole home during an outage when installed with a backup function. Tell us if backup matters to you and we will design for it.
How much is the federal battery rebate?
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program gives roughly 30% off an eligible battery at the point of sale and is not means tested. Since 1 May 2026 batteries up to about 14kWh receive close to full support and larger capacity earns less per kWh. The discount steps down on 1 January 2027 and every six months after until 2030.
Can businesses and farms get the battery discount?
Yes. The federal program covers small-scale battery systems from 5kWh to 100kWh for homes, businesses and community organisations, so many small businesses and farms qualify. Commercial solar and battery.
How long do solar batteries last?
Most lithium home batteries carry a manufacturer warranty of around 10 years, depending on brand and model. Your quote lists the exact warranty terms, and every Eco Solar installation includes a 10-year workmanship warranty.
How long does battery installation take?
Installation is completed within 3 weeks of signing in Melbourne and within 4 weeks in regional Victoria, including network approval. The install itself usually takes one day.
