How incentives change the business case
Incentives don’t just lower the price – they shorten payback and change which system size makes sense. That’s why we build them into the proposal from the first draft.
- Lower upfront costSTCs and the battery discount come straight off your proposal.
- Faster paybackA smaller net investment pays itself back sooner from the same savings.
- Right-sized systemsCertificate rules affect the best size – we model the options.
- Falling every yearSTCs shrink each January and the battery discount steps down on 1 January 2027.
- Tax treatmentDepreciation can improve the after-tax return – your accountant confirms it.

Who can claim commercial incentives
Federal certificates and the battery discount aren’t means tested. Most non-residential sites in Victoria qualify.

Commercial rebate FAQs
Do commercial solar systems get rebates?
Yes. Systems up to 100kW create STCs, which we apply as an upfront discount. From 1 October 2026 STCs also cover systems up to 1MW with a fixed 5-year deeming period, and larger systems can earn LGCs over time instead.
Can my business get the battery discount?
Yes. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program covers battery systems from 5kWh to 100kWh for businesses and community organisations.
Should a larger system choose STCs or LGCs?
It depends on your cash flow and how long you plan to hold the system. STCs give an upfront discount; LGCs are earned over time. The choice can affect eligibility under the other schemes, so we explain the trade-off in your proposal.
Do you offer Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) incentives?
Not at this stage. VEU offers a commercial solar discount for 30–200kW systems through VEU accredited providers.
Are commercial incentives means tested?
No. Federal certificates and the battery discount don’t depend on turnover or income.
Can farms claim commercial incentives?
Yes. Farms claim STCs and the battery discount like any business. Farm solar.
Is commercial solar tax deductible?
Solar is a business asset, and depreciation or other rules may apply. Your accountant can advise for your situation.
